The Explorer program is a division of the "Learning for Life" program offered through the Boy Scouts of America. Nature Coast EMS Explorers are a high school aged group of young adults who aspire to be First Responders, EMT's and Paramedics in their futures. The Explorer program offers these students a chance to learn valuable skills in the field of EMS as well as other important life skills such as responsibility, time management and being able to work together as a team. The program itself consists of class room instruction, hands-on skill lessons and ride-alongs as part of an ALS ambulance crew. The Explorers obtain an education that prepares them to react to emergency situations as trained First Responders as well as prepare for their future education as they continue up the EMS ladder. The Explorers are also dedicated to their community and participate in multiple community service projects throughout the year as well as lead CPR demonstrations, attend awesome events and participate in competitions where they can showcase their skills. The program is open to any student, age 14-20, that is currently enrolled in school and completed the 8th grade, in good academic standing and has a desire to give back to their community while beginning a rewarding future in EMS.
